» Football Manager

Being a Football Manager - How hard can it be? Being a manager is difficult no matter what you are trying to do, it can be at work or for sport. With management comes great responsibility, with sport you have people looking at your for all the answers, as a football manager this is no exception. The kids are young and you need to be able to adapt to there ability and what motivates them. Training needs to be disciplined but fun. You then need to keep everyone happy, the hardest part, because your best players want to win and will shout at those players not so good. Where is the balance? To win as a team you need help from everyone, the best advice I can give you if you are competitive as I am, is to get a winning mentality, once that mentality sinks in defeat becomes painful. The thing with defeat is to learn from mistakes and learn quickly. Identify the error and move on "Stupidity is doing the same thing but expecting a different outcome" Even though your team are kids and it is fun, identify what their strengths and weaknesses are and utilise them, encouraging and giving each individual player belief. Don't let that player know what there weakness is, but tell them you have an area you would help develop. When demonstrating make sure you use the right player, this is paramount for confidence and success. I don't want to state the obvious but a key part of what you do you will need something "a plan" you should always have your training session planned, you should plan the development of your players and move forward with this in mind. As a manager you should set your self goals and when you reach that goal tick the goal off and reset a new one. Your players may not be the best and most skilled like the dream teams are at the very top, but if they are organised and pull in the same direction how strong could they be? Work together, pull together and share success.
